| Just wanted to say hi and what a FANTASTIC board this is! I gave up smoking a year and a half ago and have gained a horrid 3 stone :( I've done SW before and lost weight but seem to give up when I lose that first 10%....don't know why....I KNOW it works I just have trouble sticking to it.
I'm on my own with 3 lovely kids so have no one to answer to, consequently when the kids go to bed I hit the crisps and chocolate. I'm really hoping that you lot will help me stay focussed.......
now when shall I start? |

| Hi Sally to the board and its great to meet you hunny!!
Well done for packing in the cigarettes, I bet you feel heaps better.
I'm on my own with 3 lovelish kids too (when they're not bickering)
You will lose the weight because we'll make sure you stick with it.. There's always lots of challenges on the go to keep you motivated and you can request a buddy in the buddy section to help to keep you on the straight and narrow. Also feel free to post up a daily food diary, you'll always get feedback.
With regards to a start date. If you have sw friendly food in or can get to the shops to stock up.. I'd bite the bullet and start tomorrow hunny. As my mum always says, don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today
The best of luck with your weightloss Journey sally and remember we're all here to support you
Make yourself at home

| oooooer NOW sounds scarey but you're sooooooooooooooo right. Tomorrow will be the day then. I have got the right food in but I've also got lots of the wrong food in and I really can't afford to throw it out.
One question....do you all go to a group? I've got all the books here and I really want to give it a try by myself at first.
Thank you for replying, I already feel a bit more positive |

| I think this is where your will power is going to have to kick in with regards to the "Wrong foods" you have in the house.
Just remind yourself why you want to lose the weight, also how you feel about yourself carrying this extra weight you've put on. If you want to lose weight it's because your not happy with the way you feel. keep that in the forefront of your mind and let it be the foundations for the rest of your SW Journey.
Could you not just use the food you have in for the childrens meals? you might be able to syn some of it in small amounts and incorporate it into your sw meals. I understand where your coming from in that you don't want to waste food though.. food doesn't come cheap these days.
I don't go to a group and have done it all at home. I get all the support off everyone on here to be honest. how old are your books? It's just that a few syn values have changed. Some things that were once free now carry quite a hugh syn value now.
If youhave any doubts about any shop bought item of food, then don't hesitate to ask in the syns and healthy extra queries section. There's always someone about that can look up the syn values for you.
We have a section with all the healthy extras you can now have as part of the plan. We do try to update it with new products as often as possible too xx _________________

| I think a lot of the forum members go to groups, but I don't just now. Like you, I have all the books & do it myself. The trouble with me, in the past I tried to "tweak" the plan to suit me, and guess what....it doesn't work like that! So now I really MUST stick to it as it does work! Keep in touch - I'm usually around! Val xx _________________ [url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wEe5NM8/]

| Thanks Janey, I can see what a fantastic help you are going to be....I really should be going to bed but I keep finding something new to look at on the board!
My books are all pretty new...the last time I joined was about 2 months ago...I only went a couple of times as I got the flu and comfort ate....any excuse to stop really. I wasn't in the zone!!
I'll root through my cupboards tomorrow and sort what's good and bad.
Thanks so much
Just one other question (for tonight ;))....should I be joining a group or something here....I saw something about a red or blue group??? |

| Ahh thats good to know about the books.
I know what you mean about being in the zone. I always think it has to to be the right time when you embark on any healthy eating plan.
Hopefully and I'm sure you are in the zone now and in a few weeks your going to start feeling great when those pounds start dropping off you.
Maybe set yourself smaller goals and promise yourself a reward for completing each milestone, like anew item of clothing or a hair cut.. you get the gist
It really does help and it gives you something to work towards.
Now to your group question... The blue teams etc are for a bootcamp that we're currently running. It's nearly at the end now though so unfortunately it's closed to new entrants.
Not to worry though there is a Be good challenge that your welcome to sign up for and the aim is to encourage members to stay on plan. Members are rewarded with fruit icons under their profile name.
We'll be starting up some new challenges really soon. There might still be time to sign up for Junes Slimmer of the month challenge too, if your interested?
Sorry I'm babbling on now.. you only asked me about the team thing xxxxx _________________

| Good morning Sally. Its great to see another scrapbooker here, I'm doing a journal to record my progress, it even has hideous underwear shots!! I couldnt do sw on my own, I tweaked and cheated too much, going to class makes me accountable for my actions. Even if you dont have totally sw friendly food (although there is usually something you can work with on either plan) being 70% good is better than going, oh well next week. we're all here for you, so have a good day, at least being on here will prevent you from getting bored... _________________ Gemma ~x~ wk7 =13b total

| Sally!
I put off re-starting SW for about 12 months! Then I just clicked one day and thought, right, this weight has to go. Then I found this site and wouldn't have bothered going to group at all but I wanted new books! I still don't like the group thing (I've been once ) but in fairness that was only last week and I couldn't go this week, maybe go next week lol.
But at the end of the day I'm doing it for me and no-one else for a change and I think that's how I stick to it! Oh and the fact that I can stuff my face too
I'd never survive if I was hungry most of the time!
Good luck x Sam x _________________
