| Hello everyone! I am Jemima, writing from Germany (that`s where I live). For years I´ve been trying to get rid of some redundant pounds that have been sticking to especially my thighs for too long. No further success with WW, which I`d been following for a very long time; nor with any of the maaaaaaany other diets I have stumbled upon so far... so I heard about Slimming World and it all sounded too good to be true AND working! I have no access to the tips message board yet, nor do I know how I can ; ( - I hope I will soon tho´!!! I am so very interested in this program and would really like to give it a shot. From what I´ve heard so far, I would definitely go with the more grains day, since I am a vegetarian. The thing I can`t understand yet is, if I am REALLY encouraged AND PROMISED SUCCESS LOSING WEIGHT to eat AS MUCH AS I LIKE of the "free foods". Isn´t it about the calories too somehow? I`m confused. lol Thanks so much for everything in advance, Jemima |

| Hi Jemima, Welcome to the group - lots of hints, support and advice here. Slimming World does really work, I've lost 15lbs in 5 weeks. You can eat as much free food as you want but need to learn to understand if you feel full and not overeat for no reason. The free food is all low calorie or the type of thing that feels you up for ages. On green you can eat lots of fruit and veg as superfree foods then have free foods of pasta, potatoes, etc and then have up to 4 healthy extras - 2 diary and 2 other-bread/cereal/seeds. Other things - chocolate, cakes, wine, sauces, etc are syns and you get a allowance of 5-15 syns daily. You have to trust the diet will work and put rules from other diets out of your head totally so you eat what they say and it works. You never have to feel hungry or weigh and measure everything again. Hope this helps a bit. Good Luck with your weightloss journey. _________________

| Yeah, thanks! Basically anything helps right now, since I really hardly know ANYTHING about the plan. Just bits and pieces...lol So is like one teaspoon of oil/healthy fat, or one piece of toast equal to one healthy extra?? And are all fruits free? How about oats, corn, cornmeal, bulgur, fatfree sugar free yogurt, fatfree milk? How much do you usually eat? Oh, I´m sorry I have all these questions....they just don`t sell a book about this here or anything alike.... Thank you so much, ya`ll seem sooo nice! ; ) jem |

I lost 5 stone on my own in the mid 90s, have put half that back on but need to loose it for life now. Changing my habits (rather than eating diet food) is what I need - especially if I'm to make sure my kids have a healthy future.

| Hi, I'm vegetarian too, you will only need to worry about green days, which helps. You really need to either have a look at the SW website (you can't get the group password for free access on here, but there are other sites which do post it), or try getting hold of set of books, ebay's an option) - not sure if I'm allowed to say that so this might get pulled. Amazon also sell some slimming world books, which have recipes, or you could maybe subscribe to the SW magazine. I think most people on here go to class, or have been before and so they have the books - I'm guessing that's not an option in Germany. My food diary is of course vegetarian and there are some others which will give you some ideas about the types of food we eat, but you really need to know about syn values and measurements for things like cereals and cheese. Hope that helps. TeaOneSugar _________________ Christmas Target

| You will really struggle to do the plan without the joining pack, there is just too much to pick up from titbits here and there on the net. If you have family in the UK maybe someone could join up for you and send you the books, it is half price membership at the mo which means it costs £9. The books on ebay sell for a lot more than this and are not always the most up to date version. |
