| Hi there. Just a quick note to say hi, and to tell you a story. One day a woman fell into a deep hole. She sat at the bottom, and looked up at the sheer walls and saw no way to get out. So she shouted for help. The local vicar came along, and said "I will pray to get you out". And he prayed, but the woman stayed in the hole. Then the doctor came along and said "I will consult my books, they will help you out" and he did. But the woman stayed in the hole. Eventually more people came along, and they formed a chain to drag the woman out of the hole, but still she stayed inside the deep pit, unable to scale the sides. Just as she was getting desperate, her best friend came along and jumped into the hole beside her. "What are you doing?" said the woman, "now we're both in the hole". "Yes", said her friend. "But you see - I've been here before, and I know the way out". That's what this board does. We've all been in the same place as you, and we're all in various stages on the way out. But there are people who know the way, and they'll even come and find you if you get lost! Welcome xx _________________ Storm xx It's time to get serious...[url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wfyAKBX/] |

| Hi That has really helped me. I started back on the plan only 3 days ago and last night i found myself yet again in bed with tub of pringles and double Twix. I dont know what my problem is. I had been doing so well yesterday and the day before but yet again i find myself secretly eating. I am only fooling myself. Please can someone help me on how to stop fooling myself. Back on the plan today. Went out a bought 2 kilo of Strawberries yesterday as they are so cheap in Spain at the moment. So if i want to snack its going to be them im snacking on. |

| Stormy - that's deep! Newme: forgive the amateur psychology - but can I ask you a couple of questions: 1. Have you been trying to lose weight for ages and ages - been on loads of diets and always give up? 2. Have you got a supportive partner - or does he/she like to pass the odd comment that isn't that helpful or not really understand what your are doing or, worse, just cyncial and mocking of your attemtps? If yes, then just maybe you have been so conditioned by the expectation of failure that you think you can't do it - and you feel that somehow that's your fault. The reason I say this is that I've seen (more often than I would like) how fairly consistent, slightly or even obvious mocking of any achievement can really undermine people's self-esteem and self-confidence - leading to a self-perpetuating circle of attempt-failure-bad feeling-worse feeling-attempt..... So what I would say to you is this: know in your heart how much you want to succeed at whatever it is you wish - and have belief in your own abilities to get there - notwithstanding difficult partners, difficult times of life, difficult circumstances. Even if this is a tiny bit of success at a time, you can build up your self-belief and self-confidence each time you lose a half-lb or whatever. Then, when you maintain or have a temporary gain - you've got the internal strength to see that for what it is - a blip - and the courage to go on through it and move on. Even if you are getting negative reinforcement from those people in your life who perhaps feel threatened when you succeed. You'll get all the positive reinforcement to balance this out from this forum. If no, then just call me a babbling old bag! Kx |

I just wanted to say, also, hi to all the recent new members...with my holiday and going on and off the diet, I have not been around as much but am trying to catch up now....so I can't reply to everyone but wanted to say hi and welcome! love Ruth x |
