PostSubject: New to Slimming World Support   Sat Oct 24, 2009 7:32 am

Hello everyone!

Well having read a few of the posts on this page, I guess my story will sound familiar to some of you. I've been on diets before (Atkins was the one I lasted longest on, 1 1/2 years) but then fell off the wagon as they say, and it's been downhill from there.

I tried Slimming World a couple of years ago, albeit without the classes as there are none in my part of the world, and had some success with it, but didn't stick to it. This time around I have decided to work it seriously, and whilst browsing found this site and decided that I needed all the help I could get, so I signed up!

I know the basics, and intend to follow the plan to the letter and think that a board like this will help me keep myself accountable as well as hopefully helping others do the same.

I look forward to getting to know all of you

to SW Kay and good luck with your journey. I'm not far from you in Cyprus so perhaps we could share ideas on alternatives to SW friendly food not available to us in this part of the world. The forum definitely keeps me on the straight and narrow and, same as you, there are no classes available here. We have a Lebanese shop but I have to avoid it like the plague as they do the most gorgeous Lebanese pecan/pistachio type sweets to die for (all made with condensed milk I'm sure)!!

Hope you are still having the same fantastic weather we are enjoying here in Cyprus at the moment.

Lyn x

Hi Lyn

Thanks for the welcome!

The things I can't find here are either processed stuff like fat free dips, dairy and dressings or Quorn but I don't think I would use these products much anyway, how about you, what are you having trouble finding?

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Nicky - I have about half my body weight to loose in total - so yes, it's a lot, but as everyone here knows, if you don't start somewhere, you never get there.

Right now I'm not weighing but measuring - I find that if I allow scales into the house I become compulsive (unfortunately, this doesn't help when I go off track and tell myself I haven't put any weight on!! )

I'm one week in so far, and according to my measurements, I've lost about 3/4 of a cm all over so it's heading in the right direction!

Welcome, I'd really recommend starting a food diary, it really helps to keep you focused.

Hi Kay,

I am also overseas and following the Original and Green day plan, I have an abundance of fresh produce that I can get my hands on....no pork products and very little in the way of processed foods so the diet takes a little more planning to make it work well for me....however it can work and can become a full lifestyle change I think and hope Smile

If you would like a buddy along the journey - I have at least 6stone to loose and have just started the diet yesterday...I added you as a friend here hope we can suppport each other Smile

Hi Clairabella and Kay

Perhaps we three should share a buddy thread, I'm in Cyprus so we're all fairly close and perhaps could swap ideas.

Hopefully we could all support each other and find our way around SW friendly products available to us in the Eastern Mediterranean. I'm on the Greek Cypriot side of the Island.

We had the most spectacular thunder storm here last night, did either of you experience it?

Hi Claire and Lyn

We didn't get the storm unfortunately, just some rain - looking forward to a good thunderstorm coming this way!!
I think the idea of starting a buddy thread together is excellent - keep us motivated and accountable!

Don't really use Skype much however. So how do we go about setting this up then?

Have a good day

Kay
