Hi everyone

I joined this site about a year ago but never really got into posting messages (little bit shy giggle ) although I do nip on here from time to time to read some of the threads.

So, I thought I would take the plunge and say hello again and see if anyone could pleeeeeease offer some help with my SW plan which came to a complete standstill. I have lost 4st 1lb so far and have another 3 to go but no matter what I do my weight is staying the same and has done for about 2/3 months now.

The consultant at class told me to do the following:
Reduce my fruit and veg intake
Only eat bread once or twice a week
Cut out cheese as much as poss
No bananas or grapes
Cut my syns down to 5
Reduce the amount of food that I eat overall
Count my calories

I did all this but nothing happened and in the end I stopped going to the class as she was becoming quite rude to me which was a bit upsetting. I then took a 'month off' where I ate in moderation rather than following the plan but my weight still maintained - which I suppose in a way is a good thing Very Happy I then went back onto the plan but nothing changed.

I'm thrilled with the weight loss that I've had so far (and that I have managed to maintain over the last few months) but I still have a way to go and I don't know what I should be doing next.

I'd love to hear if anyone has had the same problem and to know how you kick-started the weight loss again.

Have a great day all and hope to chat soon.

Tanya

Hi Sarah

Thank you for the lovely welcome and for saying hello Very Happy

How are you finding SW so far? I'm sure you will do brilliantly on your SW journey - it's the only 'plan' that I've ever tried and I have been really happy with it so far(apart from the plateau Laughing ).

Take care and hope to chat again soon.

Hi Tanya welcometogroup

That consultant certainly laid down some strict rules! Good grief! Same as Sarah I'm not quite sure what to advise about kick starting the loss again, apart from exercise or success express?

I'd suggest making a food diary on here and someone will check it for you ... I like doing that so I can catch anything that I might be doing wrong!

Whatever you decide you'll find lots of support on here!

fingers crossed x Sam x

I cant really understand why the consultant said that, especially counting calories! Surely its not needed. As for reducing fruit and veg that just seems against everything I've learned at SW.

Great advice about posting a food diary so others can help you and maybe pick something up.

Do you exercise?

Anyway, I'm glad you are posting here and I hope you find something that helps you out of the plateau.

Hi Sam, Dinky, Claire and Gemma

Thanks so much for the warm welcome to the site Very Happy and for suggesting the food diaries. I used to fill them in for class but haven't done any for a while now - I'll definitely start doing them again though Very Happy

I 'sort' of exercise, Gemma - have two children to keep up with, walk as much as I can and also swim 2-3 times a week (hour each time). I've bought a keep fit DVD too but only just got round to watching it - not given it a go yet Laughing

I was very suprised too with the consultant saying about the calories and cutting down on food as I didn't think that was what SW was all about (doing that seemed like a different plan completely). It was after that class that I stopped going and decided to go it alone.

Thanks again everyone for your suggestions and help - I'm starting to feel a bit more positive about it all now that I can come on here for a chat Very Happy That's the biggest thing I miss about the class.

Take care and chat again later.

Tanya

I voted Sam Smile

Well done Tanya on that fantastic weight loss! I can't believe your consultant.....it doesn't sound right to me. I'm no SW expert (and a newbie to this site) but I know from past experience with SW that plateauing is quite common (and probably not a real word!).

Definately do the food diary and try and up your water intake and exercise. Why don't you follow one of the weekly plans religiously in the SW magazine?

I'm sure one of the experts will help you, I'm so impressed with what you've done so far!

hiya Tanya

I dont fill in a food diary from slimming worl, i find there aint alot off space,

But what i did and still do is, i went to the News Agents and got a Little book, you no one's kids use as a make shift diary lol, mine has love hearts on the front lol, i write in the date at the top and then put in what i have for breakfast, Dinner, Supper, and any nibbles i have hehe,

Also if i decide to have a play with cooking then i have the recipys to, makes it easy for Syn's and healthy choices, and A's and B's if you no what i mean,

Then i turn the page and thats were i write down my Excersise for the day, and times distances, and who i feel after, its great, plus you can look back and think i enjoyed that day so i will have it again,,

Just a thought,, plus if you get a bigger book do the same and then you could also use an exstra page and write down how you was feeling that day to, get it all of your chest and then you will get a good nights sleep..

Dinky xxxx

Hi tanya hiya

I can't believe your consultant was telling you to calorie count!! Your on the SW plan which is supposed to take all the pressure off you that other eating plans force upon a person.

As for the fruit and veg that's why its classed as superfree foods on the plan as they are very low in calories anyway!

Leaving that group was probably the best move you made hunny. Not all sw consultants are great, the majority are but it seems yours was far from great. It's no wonder you got fed up.

Have you tried the success express plan? that might help to kick start things again and we have a 7 day success express planner in the FAQ and tips section that you can have a look at.

Other than that I think it's just a case of juggling your days around abit. if you tend to do more red days than green days or vice versa.. just swap and change.

Make sure you drink lots of water and if you don't do already, maybe incorporate some exercise into your week.

You WILL lose the weight hunny, and if one thing doesn't work for you then we'll find something else for you to try. The main thing is not to give up..

you've lost an incredible amount of weight so far and for that you should be very proud!! clapping2

Make yourself at home hunny, you'll get oodles of support and advice from everyone on here

Loads of love

Janey xx

Thanks so much for the warm welcome Janey, Sally and Dinky and also for your very kind words of support, encouragement and suggestions Very Happy I got up today feeling really positive still and have been out to get the latest issue of SW mag to see what new recipes, etc I can have a go at. I like the look of the potato pizza - yum!

I do find it harder doing the plan from home by myself so it will be great to have somewhere to visit and chat to fellow slimmers. I know that other people weren't happy with the consultant here but I couldn't swap classes because she runs both of them. The bit about calorie counting made my mind up to leave as the reason I chose SW was because it was easy to follow the the free foods and the HE's worked out for you Laughing

Thanks for all the tips about the food diaries, menus and success express. I'm not too sure what the Success Express is so I am going have a good read through it Very Happy Plus I have the new 7 day menu to try out as well.

I forgot to mention when I first said hello, that I'm also a vegetarian (I was told by the consultant that this was the reason my weight loss was slow sometimes?) so all my days are green Very Happy I'm not sure if I drink enough fluids though - should I be drinking a certain amount each day?

Next week I am definitely going to have a go at the keep fit DVD I bought - it's sat gathering dust at the mo Laughing

Well, I am now off to do my vote for the site and then start lunch - sun is shining today so looks like a nice bbq outside Very Happy

Thanks again everyone for being so supportive and making me feel very welcome here. Looking forward to getting to know you all and joining in with the chatter - take care everyone Very Happy

Hugs

Tanya

hiya Tanya and welcometogroup

Some great advice from Janey there. I'd agree that it's a great idea to do a food diary on here, you'll always get feedback!

I'm veggie too (well, recently vegan) so I only do Green Days too. The important thing is to try and drink more water than you'd believe humanly possible! It helps reduce any bloating and also helps your body process the food more efficiently (if you get my meaning, lol!) xx

Hi Dita Von Cheese

Thanks for the lovely welcome to the forum and for the info on drinking plenty of water too - I will make sure that I get through plenty from now on Very Happy It's very warm out today so I'm doing quite well at the mo Laughing

Hope things are going okay with the switch to a vegan diet - I don't think I could do that myself as I loooove my dairy Laughing Good luck with the changes and I hope it all goes well for you Very Happy
